Summary

• The candidate will be stationed in Shanghai, China to manage chemistry projects at local CRO companies, participate in and contribute to medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery programs, and provide administrative oversight to the operation of AceLink-Shanghai entity. The candidate should be very knowledgeable in modern synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery and able to work independently as well as in an integrated team environment.

Roles

• The candidate will be responsible to provide day-to-day oversight to all out-sourced chemistry projects at CRO companies. Responsibilities include developing coherent synthetic strategy, trouble-shooting synthetic issues and providing solutions, coordinating and prioritizing synthetic activities around the medicinal chemistry programs to meet the project goals and timelines, and maintaining effective partnership with CRO companies. The candidate will participate in and contribute to medicinal chemistry programs as well as contribute to other chemistry related activities.  Responsibilities include assisting compound design and development of structure-activity-relationship, participating in the regular project meetings with the teams in US, preparing/presenting update/summary to the project teams, and involving in the development of patent applications. As a senior staff at AceLink-Shanghai entity, the candidate will also assist managing the operation of this office.

Requirements

• PhD degree in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry and a minimum 10 years of experience in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery in pharmaceutical industry. Expertise in modern synthetic methodologies, transformations, and mechanisms.  Experienced and with good track records in compound design, lead optimization, and advancing compounds to pre-clinical development for drug discovery programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, self-motivated, strong inter-personal skills and able to effectively interact externally with CRO companies and internally with multidisciplinary teams.
